Jipyong Expands Accounting Regulation Team into AI Accounting Supervision & Response Center

<p>On September 1, Jipyong expanded and reorganized its Accounting Regulation Team as the AI Accounting Supervision & Response Center to provide more specialized and comprehensive support in addressing accounting regulatory issues and changes in the financial environment.<br />
<br />
Accounting regulation and oversight have tightened steadily since the comprehensive amendment of the Act on External Audit of Stock Companies.  In particular, legal provisions governing investigations into director misconduct, sanctions for accounting fraud, and auditors’ liability for damages have been strengthened.  These changes, together with the introduction of periodic auditor designation for listed companies and certain other entities and audits of internal control over financial reporting, have imposed more stringent accounting-related duties and responsibilities on directors, statutory auditors, and external auditors.  Financial regulators are also reforming accounting supervision, audit reviews, and sanctions to improve transparency, making it increasingly important for companies to address accounting risks early.  As AI adoption expands across the financial sector and the financial landscape evolves rapidly, Jipyong launched the Center to help clients respond proactively to these changes.<br />

The Center takes a structured approach to interconnected accounting regulatory issues, from accounting audit reviews and delisting to civil, criminal, and administrative litigation, working closely with other practice areas and groups as needed to provide comprehensive legal advice.  The Center will help safeguard clients’ interests through this coordinated approach: it will work with the Finance Group and the Continued Listing Advisory Center to help clients respond to accounting audit reviews by the Financial Supervisory Service and substantive reviews for continued listing by the Korea Exchange (KRX).  It will also collaborate with the Corporate & Financial Disputes Group and the Criminal Defense Group to represent clients in civil, criminal, and administrative litigation involving accounting fraud.<br />
<br />
The Center is led by Senior Advisor Seok Dong KIM, former Chairman of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), and Center Head Soonchul PARK, a former member of the FSC’s Audit Review Committee and former Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office.  Its members include Senior Advisor Myung Chul KIM, formerly of the Financial Supervisory Service, and Attorney Hee Jung SHIM and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Sang Su KU, both specialists in finance and accounting, along with other attorneys, CPAs, and specialists.<br />

Drawing on the combined expertise of Jipyong’s specialists across practice areas, the AI Accounting Supervision & Response Center is committed to providing comprehensive, specialized advice on accounting regulatory issues and effective support for clients’ business operations.<br />
