Mr. Jong Yun Kim has amassed extensive experience across a broad spectrum of legal disciplines, including international transactions, M&A, resource development, power and energy infrastructure, project financing, claims and dispute resolution, risk management, corporate legal matters, and compliance, while serving as General Counsel at leading global corporations in Korea.
He has played a pivotal role in high-profile projects spanning North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, including the acquisition of offshore and onshore oil fields, mining development, construction of refineries and power plants, privatization of state-owned enterprises, and steel mill acquisitions. His expertise covers the entire M&A lifecycle, from due diligence and contract negotiation to financial structuring and regulatory approvals.
Notably, during his five years and six months as the on-site lead for the operation and management of a worldclass copper mine complex in Kazakhstan, he successfully spearheaded privatization, equity acquisition, off-take contracts management, vertical integration, and issue resolution.
Leveraging his profound field experience and legal acumen, he provides clients with tailored legal advisory services and optimized solutions that align with their business needs.
He currently serves as a member of the ICC Korea International Finance Committee, a lecturer at the Korea International Trade Association, the Korea Institute of Finance, and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, as well as an export advisory committee member at the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency.
