Jipyong Develops An ‘Online Internal Reporting System’ To Provide A System And Internal Inspection Services To Its Corporate Clients

Jipyong developed an ‘online internal reporting system’ (the “Sotong Hotline System”, <a href="https://sotonghotline.com/web/">www.sotonghotline.com</a>) for the first time as a law firm. The system is designed to establish a one-stop online legal service system, providing employees of a company with a system for hotline, internal audit on legal issues, and legal representation in relevant civil and criminal cases. 
 
 
■ The Key to Compliance Management And Human Rights Management is Securing an Internal Reporting System and Ensuring Fairness 
 
These days, the international organizations provide that compliance management, human rights management and ethical management are one of the most important trading standards in international trade relations, thanks to the launch of the anti-corruption round which strictly regulate corruption such as bribery, and at a national level, an increasing number of people are believing that companies must reflect such important values in their business management. 
 
The most important assessment factor to assess the levels of compliance management, human rights management, and ethical management of a company is whether the company has an ‘internal reporting system’ which can detect legal issues entrenched in a company at an early stage, whether such system works, and whether such system is operated in a fair and just manner.

When an employee faces illegal situation, in many cases, he/she fear to report the case to the company. However, they will find it relatively easy to report such cases to external institutions. 
 
Any member of a company who wishes to make a whistleblowing may access to the Sotong Hotline System to report its concerns related to various legal and human rights issues such as (i) receipt of illegal money and valuables, embezzlement, and breach of trust; (ii) illegal act related to labor relations, industrial safety; (iii) fair trade issues such as unfair trade practice; (iv) leakage of trade secrets or personal information; (v) illegal conduct in connection with the hiring process or HR affairs; (vi) sexual harassment, gender discrimination, and workplace bullying, etc. involving the company without any fear. 
 
Upon receipt of such internal reporting, Jipyong will consult with the whistleblower, conduct an internal audit such as having a meeting with the reported person and testifiers and inspecting relevant documents, propose solutions or measures to improve the situation, support the disciplinary procedure, and provide legal representation for civil/criminal litigation so as the company can ultimately dissolve the problem through Jipyong’s one-stop legal services. 
 
 
■ Jipyong Launches the Internal Audit Team

The team consists of attorneys with various backgrounds and expertise, including Partner Sung Taek LIM, who is a non-standing member of the National Human Rights Commissions of Korea, Partners Ja Sung OH and Ki Seok CHANG, who has a breadth of experience in corruption and inspection cases, Partner Young Soo KIM, who engaged in human rights activities in a public organization for a long time, Partner Jun Hee SEO, who has a wide range of experience in consultation on the matters related to social economy, Attorney Kye Kwan WI, a former police who has a plethora of experience in legal representation in criminal cases, and Attorney Ye Seul LEE, who has broad experience in advising clients on human rights and gender-related legislation. 
 
Jipyong’s Internal Audit Team will endeavor to prevent legal risks that may arise in the course of corporate management and secure stability in management, contributing to establish the foundations for compliance management, human rights management, and ethical management. The team will work together with Compliance Team, Digital Forensic Team, Labor Team, Fair Trade Team, Risk Management Team, and Human Rights Management Team.
