WEB AWARD KOREA Honors “Sotong Hotline”, JIPYONG’s Online Internal Reporting System, with its Best Customer Service Award

"Sotong Hotline", an online internal reporting system launched by JIPYONG LLC has been honored with the Best Award in the customer service field in the “WEB AWARD KOREA 2020”. 
 
“WEB AWARD KOREA 2020” is one of the most prestigious website awards in Korea where the evaluation committee consisting of the nation’s renowned internet experts selects the most innovative and excellent website among the Korean websites launched in 2020. 
 
Last May, JIPYONG developed an online internal reporting system called “Sotong Hotline (<a href="http://www.sotonghotline.com/" style="color:#0563c1; text-decoration:underline" target="_blank">www.sotonghotline.com</a>)” first as a Korean law firm. It provides a ‘one-stop online legal service’ which encompasses various legal services including employees’ internal reporting, internal investigation on legal issues, and legal representation in civil or criminal proceedings. It is for the first time that a Korean law firm has developed such a system. 
 
Since then, numerous companies including companies seeking compliance management or initial public offering (IPO) as well as state-owned companies which find it necessary to operate a fair and objective internal reporting system have introduced the internal reporting system using Sotong Hotline. 
 
Employees of those companies have used the Sotong Hotline system to report various issues such as workplace harassment; sexual harassment at work; illegal bribery; embezzlement and misappropriation; unfair trade practice; and trade secret leak, and JIPYONG’s internal investigation team has provided both the investigation results and countermeasures, contributing to the companies’ efforts to enhance compliance management. 
 
Recently, the international society as well as Korea pay attention to ESG (environmental, social, and corporate governance) factors. Whether a company has an internal reporting system which guarantees early detection of its potential legal risks is one of the most important factors to evaluate its levels of compliance, human rights, and ethics management. 
 
If a company outsources internal reporting to an external institution, it can guarantee fairness and easily satisfy the international transaction standards. Against this backdrop, more and more companies choose to outsource the tasks. In particular, companies facing IPOs are implementing the system with huge interest. 
 
“As many companies are seeking ways to establish an internal reporting system which ensures fairness, JIPYONG has decided to provide the Sotong Hotline service where it is entrusted by companies to address hotline cases,” Sung Taek LIM, JIPYONG’s Managing Partner, said. “The delegated internal reporting system will help companies diagnose legal issues that may arise in the business management process and prevent risks in advance. Besides, it will contribute to the establishment of the fundamentals of transparent management and governance structures for the era of ESG.”
