Jipyong’s Industrial Accidents & Safety Center consists of more than 40 experts in various fields related to major industrial accidents and safety who provide (1) preventive advisory and consulting services as well as (2) civil and criminal response measures in the event of an industrial accident.
Our center is directly led by Ji Hyung KIM and Sang Ok PARK, who are former Supreme Court Justices; Jung Sik PARK, a former chief prosecutor at the Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office; and Young Tae YANG, the managing partner of Jipyong. Especially, Ji Hyung KIM has served as the chairperson of the coordination committee for work-related leukemia in Samsung semiconductor factory, the Guui Station Accident Fact-Finding Committee, the Special Labor Safety Committee for the Death of the Late Kim Yong-kyun, and Hyundai Steel’s Safety, Health, and Environment Advisory Committee, and is considered the leading authority in Korea on investigation the causes of safety and health accidents and preventing, responding to, and dealing with those accidents.
In addition, experts with diverse background are collaborating for the center. There are experts including (1) Center Director Young Hwan KWON, who is well known for his expertise in labor law and Attorney Yong Moon KIM, who is an advisory attorney for the Ministry of Employment and Labor, as well as (2) Attorney Jung Sik PARK, a former Seoul High Prosecutors’ Office Chief Prosecutor, Attorney Ja Sung OH, a former Public Safety Department Chief Prosecutor, and Attorney Sang Ho YOON, a former Public Safety Department Chief Prosecutor, (3) Senior Advisor Woon Bae JEON, a former head of the Planning and Coordination Department of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Senior Advisor Hoon Jong YU, a former team head of the Wide-Regional Serious Accident Investment Department of the Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Office, and Yu Taek LIM, a former team head of the Task Force for Decrease of Serious Accidents, (4) Attorney Sun Kuk KIM, who served as a police after graduating from the Korea National Police University and Attorney Chi Heon KIM, who worked at the Planning and Coordination Department of the Korea National Police Agency, (5) Chang Young KWON, a former presiding judge and the chairperson of the serious accident advisory committee of the Supreme Prosecutor’s Service and Attorney Soo Saeng MOON, a presiding judge of the Seoul Southern District Court, (6) Senior Advisor Dr. Kyoung Bae KWON, an expert of quality management and safety & environment management, (7) Attorney Tae Hee KIM, former team head of the legal affairs department of a construction company (Construction Company H) and Attorney Yong Gil Kim, former legal counsel of S Company who also has the certificate of Engineer Construction Safety, and (8) Chang Wook MIN, a global ESG expert. Our Industrial Accidents & Safety Center co-authored the “Online Annotated Commentary on the Occupational Safety and Health Act” (Law & Business) and has written a number of books and papers, including “Criminal Liability for Critical Incidents You Must Know” (JoongAng Economy) and “Business Owner and Individual Liability for Safety Accidents” (Seoul National University Labor Law Research Association), demonstrating its excellent ability to interpret legal principles.
