On July 3, 2018, Jipyong's North Korea Investment Consulting Center (NKICC) successfully hosted a seminar on 'Present and Future of North Korea Investment Laws' at the convention hall of Booyoung Taepyeong Building, an event attended by about 300 participants.<br />

Mr. Bong Hyeon CHO, Vice Director of the IBK Economic Research Institute, who has conducted various research and projects including the New Economic Map for the Korean Peninsula, spoke on 'Prospect of Investment and Economic Development in North Korea.' Mr. Hee Suk CHAI of Jipyong delivered an overview of the 'Investment Laws of North Korea.' Mr. Kwanggil KIM, who served as the General Attorney in the Kaesong Industrial Region Management Committee for more than 10 years, presented on 'Current Status and Prospect of Legislation for Special Zones in North Korea.' Mr. Cheol JEONG of Jipyong focused on 'Legal Issues relating to Development of Infrastructure, Power Generation, Resources and Real Estate in North Korea.'<br />

The host for the seminar Mr. Sung Taek LIM of Jipyong stated that "We are dedicated to achieving peace and prosperity in the Korean Peninsula, and by supporting investment in North Korea by foreign and domestic companies, we hope to contribute to breakthrough advancement for the economy in the Korean Peninsula." Mr. LIM further added, "We hope this seminar will assist companies to understand and enter into the North Korean market.<br />

Currently, seven teams within NKICC (Inter-Korean Relationship Team, Consulting Team, Infra/Real Estate Team, Energy/Resources Team, Finance Team, Special Zone/Industry Team, and Cross-Border Team) collaborate to provide consultation, F/S and legal advice in areas including infrastructure, electricity, resources, special zones, real estate, financing, and manufacturing/service sector within North Korea.<br />

NKICC is headed by Mr. Lim (admitted to the Korean Bar in 1998) who is a renowned expert on North Korean law and a legal advisor for both the Kaesong Industrial Complex and the Ministry of Unification. Mr. Seok Dong KIM of Jipyong, who previously served as Vice Minister of the Ministry of Finance and Economy and Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, advises NKICC. NKICC is also advised by about 30 other attorneys and foreign attorneys, including Mr. Chai who is advises the Presidential Committee on Northern Economic Cooperation as the first Korean attorney to be admitted to practice also in Russia, and Mr. Cheol JEONG who has extensive experience in advising clients regarding overseas investment in countries such as China and Myanmar.</p>
