2020.07.29

Jipyong is the first Korean law firm to issue social responsibility reports and has been publishing annual Sustainability Report since 2017.

The 2019 Sustainability Report is the first to be prepared by a Korean law firm in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards. It highlights Jipyong’s achievements in implementing sustainability management in 2019.

Jipyong’s Sustainability Report provides an insight into the firm’s social value management and an overview of its achievements related to social value management. It also showcases Jipyong’s pro bono activities in both legal and non-legal sectors. As illustrated in the 2019 Report, Jipyong has the highest pro bono participation rate – 92.7% of Jipyong’s attorneys have provided pro bono legal services in the past year. The average hours spent was 46.68 hours per attorney. Jipyong’s members also participated in community services such as braille transcription, serving free lunches to the underprivileged, kimchi making events, etc.  Each member did more than 8 hours of community service on average. The 2019 Report includes a review by Professor LEE Sang Su of Sogang Law School, the nation’s top expert in human rights management.

In 2019, Jipyong vowed to become the first Korean law firm to implement social value management and established a Social Value Committee. The Social Value Committee resolved to incorporate social value management into every aspect of the firm’s management, and Jipyong has pursued the goal in HR, continuing legal education, business development, procurement, governance structure, and environment. Through the Sustainability Report, Jipyong will continue its endeavors to promote sustainability both within and outside the firm.
