Jong Seon Jeong is an environmental and energy expert who entered public service through the 38th Administrative Examination. With over 30 years of experience at the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he has accumulated specialized expertise in environmental policy, international cooperation, ESG, and climate change response.

During his tenure, Mr. Jeong held key positions, including Director-General of the Nature Conservation Bureau and Commissioner of the Geum River Basin Environmental Office. In these roles, he led critical policy initiatives, including land and environmental management to ensure the sustainability of development projects, establishment of a circular economy framework through waste resource recovery, formulation of national biodiversity strategies, development of environmental impact assessment guidelines for renewable energy, restoration of endangered species, and utilization of valuable biological resources.

His international experience includes serving as the Government’s Chief Delegate to the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity. He also served as Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Kenya and as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), thereby acquiring extensive experience in global environmental governance and international cooperation.

More recently, as President of the Korea Automobile Environmental Association, Mr. JEONG promoted electric vehicle charging infrastructure and policies for reducing automobile emissions, contributing significantly to the expansion of eco-friendly mobility and the implementation of carbon neutrality policies.

Mr. Jeong holds an Environmental Impact Assessor certification and provides practical and strategic solutions for navigating environmental, energy, and ESG regulations, resolving environmental disputes, advising on carbon neutrality and biodiversity policies, and formulating strategies for overseas environmental projects and international cooperation.
